Work in Progress

Oil painting in the art studio

It's been a HOT minute since the last time I posted on here! I've been definitely keeping myself busy. Obviously work and chores and errands take up most of my time. You know.. boring adult stuff. But I've set a lot of goals for myself for this new year and I'm happy to say I've been sticking to them pretty well! Better than I expected to anyways! I've been doing yoga a few times a week-- hello Yoga with Adriene! I've been painting a little on the weekends, teaching myself Japanese, and working on a new project pertaining to Etsy. More on that later!

Anyways, as far as painting goes, like I said I've been painting a little on the weekends. Here's some current work in progress shots of two paintings I'm working on. I feel like I'm forever in WIP zone! Someday I'll have a new finished painting!

This one still needs a lot of work!

This one is coming along but I feel like I need to go back and fix a lot of things!

Thanks for having a look! Today has been a gorgeous Saturday and I am off to go enjoy it some more! ♥

Kartel Art Etsy Shop Now Open

Hooray! I'm happy to announce that my Etsy Shop is now open! I have a few items listed at the moment and I will be adding more later this week! So hop on over and check it out!

I'm really excited to move forward with this whole new look and feel to my artwork! I'm just so happy to have the shop open again! I feel like now my next step is to start getting my art out more into local shops and galleries. Gotta keep hustlin'! ;-)

I'm ALSO excited for the cooler, fall weather to start rolling in. My art studio is upstairs, and MAN is it hot up there! I'm ready to open the windows, let the cool air in, and really get to painting a lot more in the upcoming months.

Happy Sunday! Back to the grind tomorrow morning! (UGH Mondays!)

New Arts & Crafts Center

Saturday night my former college art instructor had a little get-together at his new Arts and Crafts Center. He is building the center on his property and it should be completely by September! There will be an electric kiln, wood fired kiln, and raku kiln! I've only dabbled in ceramics but my husband has done quite a bit more. Needless to say, Sean and I are big fans of pottery and we are super excited about this new art area.

It was so inspiring being able to hangout with a group of fellow artists and to also reminisce about past art classes with our beloved instructor! Once the center is completed in September I'll definitely post more pictures!

Snake Alley Art Fair

Last weekend, Sean and I attended the 2016 Snake Alley Art Fair! We both took part in the art fair once before, so this year we felt like we were a lot more prepared. We practiced setting up our booth on the Saturday before the fair, so setting up on Sunday went pretty smoothly. Actually, the whole day went surprisingly well! It turned out to be a lot of fun and we were happy to be there showing our art!

We are definitely excited to participate in more art fairs in the future! And of course to take part in Snake Alley Art Fair again next year!

One last thing! If you have a moment, go check out my husband's art! :-)

Spring Time Clouds

I've had this obsession with painting clouds lately. Spring is here and the bright blue sky and fluffy clouds are bringing me joy and inspiration. Here's a couple of small cloud paintings I finished this weekend. Happy Sunday!
